They are perfect for a quick snack on the go or as a tasty treat anytime. Best of all is the encouragement of getting kids in the kitchen to make their own snacks rather than relying on packet food and no baking required! Can be made by kids in less than 5 minutes with no special equipment! Plus..these snack packs are the perfect way to use up over ripe bananas! 

 

 

For Kids on the Go

These DIY home made snack kits are a dry mix and can be used to make nutritious snacks for your kids at home or on the go in less than 5 minutes. It's great fun for the kids and little clean up after!!

    Ingredients

    • Organic Dried Coconut (50%) Seeds (47% [Pumpkin, Chia, Linseed, Sunflower], Cocoa Powder (9.7%), Freeze Dried Strawberries (3.7%), monk fruit extract (0.1%)
    • Formulated without nuts but may contain traces of tree nuts and peanuts.
    • Made in NZ from local & imported ingredients.

    How to Prepare

    Preparing Cocoa Berry Snack Balls is as simple as 3 easy steps:

    1. Wash hands. Add an over ripe banana (100g) to a bowl. Mash up your banana with a fork until looks like puree.

    2. Add the Nutra-licious dry mix and mix well until combined and a dough like texture.
    If mixture is a bit wet due a larger banana, let sit for 10mins and the excess moisture will absorbed. 

    3. Roll into balls or your favourite shape. They are ready to eat straight away! Or keep in the fridge for later. The freeze brilliantly. 

    Get playful with the kids and make into any shape you want. Our kids love making them into slices by pressing the mixture into a loaf tin lined with plastic wrap, press mixture into it and let set in freezer for 5mins or fridge 20mins. Then decorate and slice up.  Get creative and add the ingredients you and your kids want to eat (see below for some ideas).

    Storage:

    Store unopened bag in cool dark place or in the fridge. Once made, the snack-balls will last for around 5 days in the fridge or 6 months in the freezer.

    Serving Size and Quantity:

    • Each pack has enough to make around 25 balls (around 7-8 servings)
    • Suggested Serving Size: 2-3 Snackballs.

    Make it Your Own and Have Fun

    • If you don't like banana - try a few tablespoons of water and couple tablespoons of honey. 1/3 cup apple puree or 1/3 cup blended berries!
    • For an energy boost - add some peanut butter or favourite nut butter.
    • You can also add protein powder for growing muscles.
    • For gut health add some live probiotic yoghurt. This binds the mixture really well if you don't have a banana. You will just need to add abit of sweetener to it. 
    • Whatever you add, just add enough to keep in a dough-like consistency.   
    • You can also make cookies! Line a baking tray with baking paper and pop your balls on there, press gently with a fork to resemble a cookie shape and bake in the oven on 180 for 15mins.

They are perfect snack for lunchboxes, before sports training, for a quick snack between meals, as a pre-workout boost, or a post-workout recovery snack. Perfect for balanced energy levels. Keep them in the freezer so they last longer out of the fridge. Eat within a couple of hours when outside of the fridge.
